ELEMENTS :: ADVERTISING

The "promotion mix" that is appropriate for individual businesses/organizations varies as a function of the nature and scope of their target market. It is also a function of budget, in that there is a negative ROI or saturation point associated with certain forms of a product or service's promotion mix, including advertising. Because of this it is often recommended that advertising be used only when it can create at the very least a certain minimum level of impact on a specific market segment. What is key is the use of "cost-effective" techniques that can be employed to promote goods, services, images, issues, ideas, or people. This can include the decision to employ any of the broad-based or database drive techniques that incorporate the Internet as well as traditional print media and collateral materials. Once it is decided that there is adequate or positive considerations that warrant the use of advertising then creativity, component integration, and decisions of how much advertising should be used are employed.
